Rain
We just had the most amazing rain. We got off lightly, though. Some tents were floating around on a couple of inches of water...

Hack!
We just put Ubuntu on Andre's ancient ThinkPad (XP had no drivers for the network card). We had to take the harddrive out and put it into Kev's busted laptop, PXE boot it from my laptop (over an independent network) as far as "choose a mirror", then put it back onto the real network (stealing Aran's static IP) to actually perform the install. Then put the drive back into the ThinkPad. And it all worked. We're good...

As the sun fights with the clouds, we get this...
UPDATE: looks like some other people snapped it too :)

Phones are live!
Yay! We attached our DECT phones to the camp network. If you really want to, you can phone us on
+49 (0)30-8020858-XXXX
where XXXX is the DECT extension as listed over there on the right-hand side.
Oh yeah, and we just saw John Gilmore at the bar...

Pizza night
Tomorrow is pizza night or so we have decided.
Procedure is simple.
Choose yous pizza from here: http://www.el-amir.de/html/speisekarte.html
Seems to be the local pizza place for the typical hacker food.
Once you have decided add yourself to this other page in the camp wiki.
http://events.ccc.de/camp/2007/Pizzabestellung
Details to be sorted worse case we can sort something out with the other people that order it.
If there is nothing actually organised by the overall org.
Tada chaos has started.

We are here!
Well, we finally arrived, after a somewhat eventful journey. Some of us brought a map and printed directions. Others of us used TomToms. One group arrived at 19:00 and pitched their tents while the sun was still shining. The other group were still lost at 23:00...

Weather check
30 degrees on Tuesday, thunderstorms on Wednesday. Looks like we'd all best stock up on SPF30 and Gore-Tex jackets...
UPDATE: The forecast has improved a little since this morning. Weather Underground seem to be a lot less optimistic, however.
The countdown is progressing...

Tents are tested, bits are bought
So, we just went out into the evening sun to test-pitch the tents after a day's worth of running 'round buying the final few missing pieces, everything's good and there're just 2 days to go until we hit the road !
Excited ? I'll say :)

Flickr photo pool
I just made a Flickr group to which we can post our photos. You might want to grab the RSS. Think I'll be tagging my pictures with 'ccc' and 'london'.
The 'official' tag for the camp appears to be cccamp07, and they have a group, too.

Canopy-type things
We shall need a canopy of some sort (the last one got left at What The Hack 2005). Maybe this would do the job? Or one of these?
If you spot any more, please note them in the comments...

Planning meeting
The first official CCC 2007 London Chapter meeting will take place at 18:30 this Wednesday (20070704) at the Bricklayer's Arms in Fitzrovia.
We'll be establishing who's bringing what, and working out how many cars we can muster and who can squeeze in where. Amongst other things...

Updated map
Heres a link to the map for the road with all the stops. I have made it not to the coordinates but to the town, would not accept the coordinates damn.
Shall we get a van?
I was thinking that there is only 7 hours from where I live to the camp site.
If you guys want to ship the stuff to my place I can hire a van here for the week and we can take turns driving there and back. On the way back I can ship the stuff to you guys. Just another idea among many others. Keep it real.

Best get the car(s) serviced
We've done this before: overnight ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, then a very long drive.
